We recently had the pleasure of participating in a hackathon organized by Junior Entreprise Genève, a student association of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) at the University of Geneva. Global Footprint Network CEO Steven Tebbe gave the keynote speech to kickoff the event. For 24 hours, one the student groups wrestled with the challenge we proposed on engaging younger generations while sustaining valuable, monetized products such as the online Ecological Footprint Calculator.
We are grateful for the fresh insights and ideas provided to our organization from the hackathon. More importantly, through our participation in the creative and collaborative event, we hope to have helped nurture emerging talent in the sustainability arena. It was a delightful surprise that the student group working on Global Footprint Network’s challenge won first prize out of five outstanding projects. Kudos to the student teams and organizers of the event and thank you for having us!
